Herefordshire Council will trial opening Ross-on-Wye Household Recycling Centre for an extra day over the busy spring and summer period.

Ross recycling centre is one of the busiest in the county, and a growing local population has seen an increased demand for the service. The summer months can be particularly busy, with heavy traffic on local roads as visitors queue to get into the site. The six month pilot will establish whether the extra day will meet increasing local demand for the service and ease traffic congestion at busy times.

Council officers will carry out visitor surveys during the pilot to measure the success of the trial. Feedback from the pilot will then help the council to decide whether to permanently open on Monday.

The extended hours begin on Monday from 1 April 2019, and Ross-on-Wye Household Recycling Centre will operate the following opening hours:

Monday: 8am to 6pm
Tuesday: Closed
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: 8am to 6pm
Friday: Closed
Saturday: 8am to 6pm
Sunday: 10am to 5pm
Bank Holidays: 10am to 5pm*
*Except Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day
