One of Broadway’s biggest musical productions has landed squarely in central Hereford, and it’s definitely not the shy and retiring type.

The classic musical comedy is brought to life on the Courtyard stage by the fabulous gang from X-entricity Theatre Company and features all the favourites including “Luck Be a Lady” (which I was left singing for many hours afterward) and the hilarious “Take Back Your Mink” routine.

Set in (and under) New York and Cuba, the story follows the underground gambling circuit desperately trying to find a place to roll the dice away from the prying eyes of the law(Samuel Callen) Ring leader Nathan Detroit (Lewis Booton) bets gambling guru Sky Masterson (Matthew Lawrence) that he’ll never convince straightlaced missionary Sarah Brown (Stephanie Millington) to join him on a boozy trip to Havana and almost loses his long suffering fiancee Miss Adelaide (Chloe Darrell) in the process.

Jam packed with high octane dance routines, spectacular supporting cast, clever gags and some very notable vocal performances – Guys & Dolls is a great addition to the X-centricity portfolio, following last year’s very popular and highly acclaimed Pricilla, Queen of the Desert. It’s great to see so many of the Courtyard Youth Theatre alumni spreading their wings and really enjoying their well developed characters away from the safety of the mother company and obviously thriving in the gruelling world of musical theatre.

The run continues until Saturday 27th October, with limited tickets available for every performance. It’s no wonder that it’s fast approaching the point of sell-out, with so many talented members of cast and crew giving their absolute all to ensure audiences are leaving the Courtyard’s Main House in a toe-tapping, drawling, laughing crowd.

Tickets are available from The Courtyard Box Office on 01432 340555 on through the website
